On 19th of April, 2022, the signing ceremony for cooperation between Jena University of Applied Sciences and Zibo Sino-German Rhein Intelligent Technology School, was held in Sino-German Intelligent Manufacturing Industry-Education Integrated Demonstration Base. Bi Hongwei, the vice mayor of Zibo, Wei Yujiao, the head of High-tech zone administration committee, Sun Yingtao, the head of Zibo Education Bureau, Qu Wenyue, the vice director of High-tech zone administration committee and other department representatives; Prof. Steffen Teichert, the president of Jena University of Applied Sciences, Mr Dirk Schlegel, the international section of Jena University of Applied Sciences, Mrs Nicola Svensson, the assistant, Mrs Johanna Engel, head of international college of the university, Cui Zhi, the head of Zibo Sino-German Rhein Intelligent Technology School, Liu Dali, the principle of the school and other school department leaders attended the ceremony.
Bi Hongwei, the vice mayor of Zibo, on behalf of the Zibo People’s Government, congratulated the two institutions on the signing of the agreement. In her speech, she said that Zibo attaches great importance to the development of vocational education, constantly innovates development concepts, optimizes the development environment, and actively builds an industry-education-integrated city based on implementation of science and education enhancement measures, deepening the cooperation between industry, universities and research institutes. As a high-level vocational school that founded by Zibo, the Sino-German Rhein Intelligent Technology School earnestly implements the German ‘dual-system’ education concept, and is committed to building an international vocational school with distinctive features. The signing of the two parties is a major event in the development of vocational education in Zibo, and it is also an in-depth cooperation between China and Germany in the fields of science, technology and education. The two parties will carry out comprehensive cooperation in the fields of education and research, and actively explore the cooperative education model of ‘Secondary vocational school in China — German undergraduate’. Zibo will continue to increase the introduction of high-quality German educational resources, promote the in-depth multi-level and multi-field cooperation between the two parties, and blaze a new era of industry-education integration, innovative development, and work together to create a better future.
Qu Wenyue, the vice director of High-tech zone administration committee, said in his speech that the two parties are actively exploring new modes of cooperation in education and research, the introduction of high-quality resources from the Jena University of Applied Sciences marks a key step for both parties in building an international exchange and cooperation platform, and jointly building an international vocational education brand, the cooperation and talent development will accelerate the process supply-side structural reform, will inject new concept and new function for regional economy development. The Zibo high-tech zone will provide the best service, the strongest guarantee and the greatest support, and gather together to open up a new space for mutual empowerment and win-win cooperation.
Prof. Steffen Teichert, the president of Jena University of Applied Sciences, said in his speech that Jena University of Applied Sciences has won many achievements and awards in the field of teaching, research and development. At moment, it has 26 undergraduate majors and 24 master’s majors, and enjoys a high reputation in Germany. He hoped that the two parties will take this signing as an opportunity to continue to strengthen cooperation in the fields of materials science, electrical information engineering, laser and optical technology, precision instruments, etc., actively promote international scientific research cooperation and educational exchange projects, carry out different forms of study abroad programs, and expand students’ international vision, to build an international exchange platform for students, to jointly open the door of international in-depth exchanges and cooperation, and to contribute to the cooperation and exchanges between China and Germany in the field of education.
Mr Dirk Schlegel, the head of interntional section of the university, introduced the basic situation of the university’s history, discipline construction, and scientific research achievements. He said that the Jena University of Applied Sciences in Germany has a profound history and a leading level of scientific research. It is a well-known German university of applied technology and a charming university with a combination of history, culture and high technology. He hopes that after the epidemic is over, he will have the opportunity to discuss more in-depth cooperation in Zibo, and he also invites teachers and students from Zibo to study and communicate in Jena.

It is reported that after the signing of the agreement between the two parties, they will actively explore the new model of 3-year (domestic vocational) + 4-year (German undergraduate) cooperative education model, and introduce high-quality educational resources of Jena University of Applied Sciences to the high-tech zone, cooperate to carry out Sino-foreign school-running projects and Sino-foreign school-running institutions, promote exchanges between teachers and students, promote Sino-German cooperation and innovation in science and technology and education, and comprehensively assist the highland construction of Shandong vocational education.
